Kitchen Arrived Today

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

The house is geared up for some action. Our kitchen got delivered today and we will be starting the install in the next few days.

Chris is going to the mill this weekend to pick out the remainder of the flooring. The flooring we have going down is some really sweet old growth fir and hopefully we can find some more that is similar to it.

Prepping for New Flooring

Monday, November 9th, 2009

On the weekend we were clearing out both bedrooms and getting them prepped for new flooring. Which means using a planer to smoothen the wood we currently have and taking out the current carpet so we can lay the planks down.

We have also decided to do this in the whole house with this really cool fir. It’s thicker than the usual hardwood floor and has more character.

The floor will have a blackened finish on it like this photo below.

A Raining Day in Squamish

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

My inspiration today is the rain. For the first time in a longtime it is pouring down with rain and I have to say, I love it! I can hear it drumming on the roof and it is the most relaxing sound, especially when falling asleep or waking up to it on a lazy Saturday morning. Bliss.

The weather in Squamish on average is actually perfect, we get all four seasons; Winter: cold and snowy, Spring: sunny, cold, and rainy sometimes, Summer: LOVELY – dry, above 25 celsius and windy, Fall: cool, sunny and rainy. That pretty much sums it up.

You find more information on weather here.

Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.  ~ John Ruskin

100 Day Countdown to the 2010 Winter Games Today

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

There are 100 days of posting to go before the Olympics! Yay. That means in under 100 days our renos will be completed as well. We hope to have them actually done for January.

We are off to IKEA to measure and order our new kitchen. We decided to design a neat layout as we have all of our kitchen currently in this tiny alley area. We are looking forward to ripping that all out and creating a little nook so breakfast, lunch and dinner can be enjoyed in this area. A nice way to separate the kitchen.

The plumbers are on their way next week, which means radiant heating will be installed to make the house nice and cozy for the Winter season.

Here is a picture of our dining space which will be converted into a modern kitchen.
